  • Adapted from the Greek classic, OEDIPUS is playing at London's Wyndham's Theatre for a limited run until January 2025!

    Originally presented in Dutch at the Internationaal Theater in Amsterdam, then at the Edinburgh International Festival, Robert Icke's adaptation of OEDIPUS will star Mark Strong (The Red Barn) in the title role, alongside Lesley Manville (The Crown) as Jocasta.

    Samuel Brewer (Teiresias), Michael Gould (Creon), Sara Hazemi (Lichas/Understudy Antigone), Gary McDonald (Driver), Bhasker Patel (Corin), Phia Saban (Antigone), Jordan Scowen (Eteocles), June Watson (Merope), James Wilbraham (Polyneices), Jim Creighton (Ensemble/Understudy Oedipus & Creon), Derek Elroy (Ensemble/Understudy Corin, Teiresias & Driver), Celia Nelson (Ensemble/ Understudy Jocasta & Merope) and Jake Rory (Ensemble/Understudy Polyneices, Eteocles & Lichas) complete the cast.

    When searching for help against a plague destroying his country, Oedipus finds himself drawn futher and further into a convoluted prophecy which he has unwittingly fulfilled, in which he unknowingly murdered his own father and married his mother.

    Age Guidance: 16+. Scenes of a sexual nature, distressing content including graphic depictions of violence. The performance also contains a short blackout.

    The show will start promptly, and we are unable to admit latecomers. There is no readmittance to the auditorium once the performance has begun.

    Please note, at the evening performance on Sat 9 Nov, Tue 12 Nov and Sat 16 Nov, the role of Jocasta will be played by Celia Nelson.
